Female Executives: A Company’s Key to Increased Equity
In the ever growing competitive financial and business industries, Bank of America Merrill Lynch has the fix all solution…appoint more women to executive positions.
“Over the past seven years, S&P 500 companies, where at least 25% of executives were female, generated higher one-year returns on equity than the overall index…” Although women make up on 22% of S&P 500 boards at the current time, gender diversity in executive positions is proving to be extremely profitable.
The chart above demonstrates the vast differences over the last seven years. Figures show companies where women hold more than 25% of the executive positions, thrive.
Companies that are ranked in the top percentage for gender diversity are 15% more likely to surpass the industry average for their operating income. BAML reported, that companies with numerous females in leadership positions, have less stock price and earnings volatility. The company stated, “Companies that invest in women tend to have more favorable fundamental attributes, and with the rise in impact investing, a growing investor base.”
